Since the 1970's Major League Baseball has used what is referred to as a designated player in the American League. The designated player, or DH for brief, is a gamer in the lineup whose only job is to strike in the place of another gamer. The DH is enabled to pinch hit any other hitter in the lineup, permitting the gamer who is not striking to stil
